‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ ‘Turning Red’ and More Disney Films Nominated for 2023 Oscars

The 2023 Academy Award nominations have been announced and several Disney films, most notably “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” have earned nominations.

“Avatar: The Way of Water”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”

“Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” are both nominated for Best Visual Effects.

“Fire of Love”

  • Best Documentary Feature Film – Sara Dosa, Shane Boris, and Ina Fichman

“Fire of Love” is a National Geographic film following two volcanologists.

“Le Pupille”

  • Best Live-Action Short Film – Alice Rohrwacher and Alfonso Cuarón

This Italian film was released on Disney+ in December and is the first live-action short film released on Disney+ to be nominated for the Academy Award.
