New ‘Olu Mel Loungefly, Suitcase, and Shoulder Plush Bring Aulani’s Favorite Turtle to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Bust out the ukelele! New merchandise featuring Aulani’s beloved ‘Olu Mel has arrived at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. ‘Olu Mel is a beloved sea creature that is usually spotted with Duffy and Friends at Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa in Hawaii, but a new Loungefly bag, suitcase, and shoulder plush are the latest in a new line of merchandise that brings the ukelele-playing turtle to BouTiki at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

‘Olu Mel Loungefly Bag – $88

A fedora-wearing ‘Olu Mel sings along to his ukelele on the front of this new Loungefly bag to be spotted at Walt Disney World. The sea turtle is sewn in the center of a beachfront island scene in front of the Aulani Resort and Spa. Traditional Hawaiian flowers frame the character.

On the back of the Loungefly, ‘Olu Mel has ditched the fedora and tests the waters on his surfboard in a small framed scene at the bottom. More Hawaiian fauna and ‘Olu’s signature ukelele surround the frame.

Traditional Polynesian flowers, palms, pineapples, and postcards from Hawaii are surrounded by ‘Olu surfing, napping beneath a palm tree, wearing a lei, snorkeling, swimming, and playing the ukelele.

‘Olu Mel was first introduced as ‘Olu at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, in 2018. He was renamed ‘Olu Mel in 2020 and made his costumed character debut at Shanghai Disneyland later that year.

This new Loungefly bag, suitcase, and shoulder plush are the latest in a new line of merchandise that brings the ukelele-playing turtle to BouTiki at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We spotted an ‘Olu Mel plush and ornament at BouTiki yesterday and a new spirit jersey and beach towel of Duffy’s adorable turtle friend last week.
