The new Dooney & Bourke collection inspired by “The Band Concert,” the first Mickey Mouse film to be produced in color, has arrived at Walt Disney World.
“The Band Concert” is a 1935 animated short film produced in 3-strip Technicolor. While the film was the 73rd to feature Mickey Mouse, it was the first film to feature him in color. “The Band Concert” tells the story of a small concert band conducted by Mickey Mouse which struggles through a distraction-filled public performance at the park.
“The Band Concert” Dooney & Bourke Wallet – $168
On the front of this wallet, Mickey in his red conductor’s uniform conducts Donald, who is dutifully playing the trumpet (although he’s not so polite in the film).
The film’s billing, “Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse in The Band Concert,” is below Mickey.
The other side of the wallet features five more members of the band, surrounded by floating music notes.
Horace Horsecollar is at the center, playing instruments with both hands, both feet, and his mouth.
The other members of the band include an unnamed dog who resembles Goofy, Goofy himself, Clarabelle Cow, and Peter Pig.
The wallet has a red wrist strap.
The interior is light blue with brown leather at the edges.
“The Band Concert” Dooney & Bourke Satchel – $228
The same images from the wallet are featured on the three bags but as an all-over pattern.
The satchel has a small zip pocket on one side. The zipper pull is brown leather.
Mickey and Donald are at the center of the bag’s pattern.
The bags are all white with red piping.
There are metal rings on the sides for attaching the crossbody strap.
The bottom is flat, with round metal pieces that make it easy to set on a table or floor.
The interior is light blue with a small zip pocket.
“The Band Concert” Dooney & Bourke Handbag – $298
The handbag has a dome shape, with two brown handles at the top.
A brown leather stripe runs around the bottom.
The zipper goes all the way around the top with two zipper pulls.
The bottom of this bag is also flat.
A small open pocket is on the inside.
Annual Passholder Exclusive “The Band Concert” Dooney & Bourke Tote – $328
Finally, there is an annual passholder-exclusive large tote bag. A small open pocket is on one side.
It includes a leather tag debossed with the annual passholder “D” logo featuring Mickey.
“Walt Disney World annual passholder” is below the logo.
The tote has two brown handles at the top.
It’s also flat on the bottom.
These bags can be found at Uptown Jewelers in Magic Kingdom.
A limited edition MagicBand was also released as part of this collection.
