Construction is moving along rather quickly over at the new Villain-Con Minion Blast attraction at Universal Studios Florida.

Villain-Con Minion Blast

Earlier today, we noticed that a pair of evil looking eyes were added to the large “V” centered on the front of Villain-Con Minion Blast. The black, masked eyes now stretch across the top of the “V”.

In just a few hours, a new item was added on top of the masked, evil eyes. It appears to be part of a globe that is outlined in white.

The “V,” which we would presume stands for Villain-Con, has undergone a lot of changes in the past few weeks. Just last week, the giant red-orange “V” was added to the façade of the Villain-Con Minion Blast building.

Prior to that, the concrete backdrop to the “V” was painted a vibrant purple color. Some decorative string lights were hung around the queue area for the ride were added as well. The Villain-Con banners went up shortly before that.

Given the number of holes present in the giant “V,” it is safe to assume that more items will be added to it. Today, two big pieces — the masked eyes and the globe piece — were added to the “V” within hours of each other.

As we’ve reported before, Villain-Con Minion Blast is replacing the recently retired Shrek 4D attraction. Villain-Con will be a part of the newly renamed Illumination Avenue.

Construction is moving fairly quickly, and with multiple items being added every week, the attraction is on track to open by its regularly scheduled date of summer 2023.

Minion Café

Also a part of the Minion takeover of Illumination Avenue is Minion Café. Minion Café is replacing the classic Universal Studios’ Classic Monster Café, which closed back in May 2022.

The metal framing for Minion Café is starting to tower over the Minion-themed construction walls. Blue scrim has been added to the construction site as well.

Minion Café will not be unique to Universal Studios Florida, as there is also a location in Universal Studios Hollywood that opened in March 2021. It features unique dishes such as Chicken Bacon Mac n’ Cheese, Meatball Parmesan Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup, Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese with Banana BBQ Sauce, and much more, though the menu for Orlando has not been released yet.

Construction for Minion Café is also moving along at a pretty fast pace, and like Villain-Con, is also set to open in summer 2023.
