Where Is TRON Lightcycle / Run Located?

The TRON Lightcycle / Run queue entry point can be found just past the entrances for Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland Launch Depot shop in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. Here are a few headlines related to the attraction’s location and Tomorrowland, if you’d like to take a look!

How do you ride TRON Lightcycle / Run?

Guests will need a valid Park Pass as well as a park reservation for Magic Kingdom on the day they are hoping to ride this new coaster. Guests who have a park reservation at a different Walt Disney World park and have purchased the Park-Hopper upgrade for their ticket may still access the attraction through purchasing Individual Lightning Lane Access and “hopping” to Magic Kingdom after 2:00 p.m.

After securing park access, in order to jump on a Lightcycle and enter the Grid, guests will need to either sign up for the virtual queue or purchase Individual Lightning Lane access. There is no stand-by queue available at this time.

TRON Lightcycle / Run vehicles are available to test out before riding.

There is a sample ride vehicle available for guests to test in front of the attraction. This is provided to ensure that guests remain comfortable and safe while on the ride. This can also be a great place to snap a photo!

The coaster vehicles are modeled after the Lightcycle featured in the “TRON: Legacy” movie. As some guests may find this accommodation uncomfortable, there is one accessible “Light Runner Vehicle” on each TRON Lightcycle / Run coaster train. These are intended to be used by the guests who would prefer a seated coaster experience with a traditional lap bar. We have the full photo report of this alternative ride vehicle for you below.

How to use the Virtual Queue and Individual Lightning Lane for TRON Lightcycle / Run

Joining the TRON Lightcycle / Run virtual queue does not have an additional cost. In order to join, guests must open the My Disney Experience App and be ready to tap “Join” as soon as the queue opens. This opportunity happens twice per day. In order to be eligible, guests must hold a valid Park Pass and a park reservation for Magic Kingdom on the day they hope to hop on a Lightcycle via this virtual queue.

The first opportunity is at 7:00 a.m. Once this fills up, the queue closes and reopens at 1:00 p.m. For the afternoon queue opportunity, only guests physically within Magic Kingdom will be able to book a reservation in the virtual queue. Visitors who successfully booked during the 7:00 a.m. queue cannot book a second experience in the 1:00 p.m. queue.

Once a guest is successfully in a virtual queue, the My Disney Experience App will provide a boarding group and a time to arrive at the TRON Lightcycle / Run queue entrance. Make sure you get there in plenty of time, and keep an eye on this projected window as it sometimes changes.

With individual Lightning Lane access, guests can purchase passes with a specific a time for their party to arrive. The Disney Genie Tip Board will tell guests when the next Lightning Lane window is for eligible attractions. The Tip Board will clarify which attractions are available individually and which are available through Genie+. Visiting an attraction’s landing page within the app will also show an option for booking Lightning Lane access.

In order to book Individual Lightning Lane access for TRON Lightcycle / Run, guests will need to access the Disney Genie app as soon as they’re eligible to book a reservation. Guests of a Disney Resort hotel or partner hotel may make their first purchase starting at 7:00 a.m. on the day of their visit. All other guests may make their first purchase during normal park opening hours.

Guests do not need to purchase Genie+ for the day in order to purchase Individual Lightning Lane access. Each rider will need a separate pass, but bookings can be made for the entire group at once. As of this writing, the cost was $20 per rider pass.

Even with access through one of these methods, there is still sometimes a wait to get on the ride.

Ride Experience

TRON Lightcycle / Run is located in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is a high-speed, thrilling coaster ride. It is also the first attraction at Walt Disney World to require the use of lockers for personal belongings.

According to the official release, guests will climb aboard their very own Lightcycle and “take off on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most menacing Programs.” Riders will “surge past fierce opponents” and attempt to cross through eight Energy Gates to win a victory for their team. All racers will be on Team Blue.

Food

TRON Courtyard

The new food stand built for the TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction is called Energy Bytes, and stands just to the left of the ride’s queue entrance in the courtyard.

Here’s the menu featured on the stand, along with prices for each item. The selections are broken into three categories: Power Cycle for main dishes, End of Line for desserts, and Sip Protocol for beverages.

Of course we had to get one of each in order to give you a full report!

First up, we have the Digital Dumplings – Beef & Broccoli dish. It features beef dumplings, broccoli pesto, and a zesty ginger-soy broth.  The dumplings are left unsealed allowing for the flavors to blend for the perfect bite. We would definitely consider ordering this dish again.

Next is Digital Dumplings – Buffalo Chicken, which is comprised of chicken dumplings, blue cheese powder, and a cayenne pepper broth. Like its beef and broccoli counterpart, the Buffalo Chicken Digital Dumplings are served in a thin and delicate dumpling wrapper. This a dish we could enjoy, but not one we would rush back for tomorrow.

One of the two available sweet treats is Chocolate Cake Doughnut Holes. These are drizzled in a mocha sauce and topped with chocolate-flavored pop rocks. They were easily our favorite item on the menu.

The second dessert offering is Strawberry Ice0form, a blend of strawberry ice cream mochi, graham crackers, and a dollop of cheesecake foam on top. We would order this again, as it certainly delivers three dessert favorites in one serving. It’s truly a unique approach. We definitely recommend eating this one fast and out of the sun, though.

Energy Bytes also sells a frozen Watermelon Refresher, which is infused with yuzu and ginger. For those of you not familiar with yuzu, it is a citrusy Japanese fruit. Served in a plastic flute, this watermelon slush is perfect for a quick burst of cool on a hot day. The new drink is garnished with ginger and popping candies. If sweetness is what you seek this might be a great choice, especially on a hot day. We think the kids might love this one.

Joffrey’s Coffee is also serving up a fresh beverage for guest enjoyment here called Joffrey’s Cold Brew with Mocha Milk. We enjoyed this sweet drink with its hint of chocolate. It’s a solid coffee option, especially if you’re nearby TRON Lightcycle / Run. The other Joffrey’s kiosks throughout the park will offer a wider variety of caffeinated drinks, so keep that in mind if you’re wanting something different.

  1. Question about the merchandise. Do you need a ride reservation to go into the shop, or is it separate as well?
