Disney Genie has officially launched for Walt Disney World in the My Disney Experience app. The service helps guests plan their day. Instead of FastPass, guests can now purchase Genie+ or individual Lightning Lane to access lower wait times. Genie+ affords guests Lightning Lane access to most attractions. Select popular rides, however, have Lightning Lane access as a separate purchase. Read our guide to Disney Genie+ but read on for information about individual Lightning Lane.

What is Individual Lightning Lane?

Individual Lightning Lane (a.k.a. à la carte Lightning Lane) offers the chance to purchase line skip access to the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World. You can only book individual Lightning Lane for up to two different attractions per day.

The Cost

Individual Lightning Lane access uses variable pricing depending on the attraction and day of the year. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is generally the most expensive attraction, while Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom is the cheapest. It ranges from $10 to $25.

How to Purchase Individual Lightning Lane Access

Guests staying at eligible Walt Disney World Resort Hotels can purchase individual Lightning Lane selections beginning at 7:00 a.m. on the day of their visit. All other guests can purchase at the scheduled park opening time.

The Disney Genie Tip Board in My Disney Experience will tell guests what time the next Lightning Lane window begins for eligible attractions. The Tip Board will also clarify which attractions are available individually and which are available through Genie+. You can also find an attraction’s Lighting Lane details by navigating to their specific page in My Disney Experience.

After selecting your attraction, you can select who is in your party. You then select a preferred return time. Unlike Lightning Lane with Genie+, you can search by hour and choose your return window.

Before purchasing, guests can review their selection and contact info.

A confirmation page then gives a confirmation number. It is also sent to your email.

After purchasing individual Lightning Lane, it is marked as purchased in the Tip Board. You have the option to add another guest if there is availability. You can also view your booked Lightning Lanes under the My Day tab.

If you are searching for Lightning Lane options at multiple parks, hit Change Park at the top of the Tip Board to select a different theme park. You can book Lightning Lane access at different parks if you have a Park Hopper ticket.

When booking Lightning Lane times, you can also click Plans During This Time to see what return windows overlap. You may purchase overlapping experiences.

Old FastPass rules still apply and you can successfully tap in 5 minutes early or up to 15 minutes late.
