We recently saw the 50th Anniversary Celebration banners were removed and replaced on Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. Let’s take a closer look at the replacement decorations.
New Banners at Cinderella Castle
During our visit to Magic Kingdom, we observed that the banners featuring Mary Blair’s concept art from the “Cinderella” movie have been taken down and replaced with updated versions of the pre-50th Anniversary Celebration banners.
The blue, purple, and gold banners look vibrant and refreshed. These have the same graphic as the banners that were on display before the 50th Anniversary Celebration began.
Some of the 50th Anniversary Celebration decorations are still on Cinderella Castle, but the moat is currently drained to facilitate the Cast Members as they systematically remove them.
As a reminder, this is what that banners looked like during the 50th Anniversary Celebration. The concept artwork depicts scenes from the movie “Cinderella,” and is by famous artist Mary Blair.
The 50th Anniversary Celebration of Walt Disney World, “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” ended in March. Now Disney is celebrating a much larger milestone: the company’s 100th anniversary.
Disney100 Anniversary Celebration
Across all six parks and on a global scale, Disney is celebrating “100 Years of Wonder.” This celebration is the largest event ever thrown by The Walt Disney Company. The heart of the celebration takes place at Disneyland Resort, as it is “The Place Where it All Began.”
The party kicked off January 27, 2023, and is expected to last through July 2024.
In Walt Disney World, Disney100 will mostly be celebrated at EPCOT with Mickey and Minnie in their new platinum outfits. A new Spectacle of Light debuted on Spaceship Earth, and in late 2023, a new Disney100 nighttime spectacular will replace EPCOT Forever. This show was brought back after the end of Harmonious in early April but has only returned as an interim replacement.
Most recently, a Disney100 Decoration was added to the front entrance of Hollywood Studios.
In addition, Journey of Water, CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, World Celebration Garden, and Dreamers Point featuring the “Dreamer” statue of Walt Disney are all scheduled to open in late 2023 at EPCOT.
During the Disney100 celebration at Disneyland Resort, guests can enjoy Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland and World of Color – ONE at Disney California Adventure. Disneyland has also received a platinum Minnie statue for the occasion.
