A new “Spectacle of Light” show has debuted in EPCOT, bringing the music of Disney’s “Encanto” to Spaceship Earth as part of the 2023 International Flower & Garden Festival.
Amidst grey skies, the newest light show to decorate Spaceship Earth debuted, featuring the song “What Else Can I Do?” from Disney’s “Encanto.” The song was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. As Isabella and Mirabel sing this Disney bop, beacons of light surrounding the surface of Spaceship Earth deliver an equally energetic light show.
This Disney park icon comes to life as hundreds of lights are used to tell the story. The Spaceship Earth luminaires are nestled between the icon’s panels and illuminate in different patterns during shows each night.
The song itself focuses heavily on Isabella’s magical gift of manipulating and generating plants and flowers, making it the perfect choice for the 2023 Flower & Garden Festival. In the Disney film, Isabella emulates beacons of vibrant flowers as she swings from vines around her room. Similarly, Spaceship Earth dons every color of the rainbow in a vibrant, eye-catching light show.
Light shows are held on Spaceship Earth nightly, beginning at sunset. Previously, the EPCOT40 and regular “Beacon of Magic” shows would rotate.

Last week, an article by Samantha Schwirck highlighted the technical aspects of the new lighting package of Spaceship Earth and the surrounding EPCOT entrance plaza, which debuted in 2021 for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival 2023 began today and runs through July 5.
