This year’s summer tribute store is “The Making of Jurassic Park” in honor of the film’s 30th anniversary, and the façade is in place in Hollywood at Universal Studios Florida.
A sign out front has the name of the store and “coming soon.” The store will open next weekend, with previews on Thursday.
The façade includes a “tribute store” banner in the classic “Jurassic Park” font.
A 30th anniversary banner resembling the one knocked down by the T. rex in “Jurassic Park” is on the front of the building across the film’s logo.
The entrance is set up at Studio Styles, and the store will likely use that space plus the Darkroom and Williams of Hollywood (as the Mardi Gras tribute store did).
Banners on the side advertise “The Making of Jurassic Park.”
They read, “A behind-the-scenes look at one of the most amazing motion pictures of all time.”
The plan for the Jurassic Park Tribute store is to feature a look inside the film’s sets rather than transport you into the film itself.
Film equipment like lights, crates, and ropes are on and around the scaffolding outside.
The store’s theme was first teased with a metal ladle in a window, referencing the iconic kitchen scene from the first “Jurassic Park” film. The ladle was removed from the window last week.
The first “Jurassic Park” film, based on the 1990 novel of the same name, was released in 1993. It has spawned multiple sequels, short films, the “Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous” series, LEGO projects, and theme park attractions.
Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Celebration at Universal Parks
Theme park celebrations, as well as exclusive film and new 90s-inspired nostalgia products, will be hitting retail throughout the year to celebrate a franchise 65 million years in the making. Highlights include specialty food and merchandise outlets as well as limited-edition anniversary branded merchandise.
As part of Universal’s marketing plan to get everyone excited for the event, a faux Jurassic Park training video set in the 1990s was recently released for the first generation of InGen scientists. The video featured Mr. DNA as the narrator.
