Oogie Boogie’s Villainous Nightmare Bash
The event begins at 10:00 p.m. on deck 12, in The Hideaway, a space usually reserved for teenagers or young adults. The room is decorated with a few extra spooky touches, like an Oogie Boogie jack-o’-lantern.
The event isn’t “inappropriate,” but has some scary content and takes place late at night, hence the 18+ requirement.
The event is hosted by Vex, who has been obsessed with Oogie Boogie since seeing him in nightmares as a child. She hopes to summon the Boogie Man with help from her fellow curiosity seekers. She retrieves a spellbook and instructs guests to focus all of their fears and nightmares towards the full moon, which is shown on the screens around the room.
As guests focus, snakes, spiders, and Disney Villains (depicted in live-action as they might appear during a stage show) appear on the screens amidst flashes of light.
At first, the spell doesn’t seem to have worked.
But then Oogie Boogie’s shadow appears on the moon.
Oogie asks what the guests want and Vex says they would like a night in his world. She says they control him because they summoned him.
Guests then move to the Hero Zone, where the “Incredi-Games” are hosted. Game equipment has been moved out for the nightmare bash.
The screen is turned into “Boogie-Vision,” looking like a vintage TV with teeth around it. The room is aglow with green light.
Oogie Boogie-inspired banners feature skulls, card symbols, cats, and the unlucky number 13.
Oogie Boogie himself is on the second-floor balcony with a henchman.
Once all the guests file in, the show resumes, with Oogie declaring that they aren’t in control of him.
Oogie launches into his famous song from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” as his henchman descends the stairs and collects Vex.
Oogie casts a hex on Vex, turning her into another henchman.
Oogie then wonders what to do with all of the guests who helped Vex summon him.
He decides to roll the dice to make his decision.
Snake eyes! But Oogie “shakes” them to land on a higher number, making him win.
Thankfully, everyone has caught Oogie in a good mood and he enjoyed all the villains who appeared during the summoning ceremony. So he decides to have a Villainous Nightmare Bash.
The dance party commences, with Oogie Boogie and his two henchmen coming down to dance with guests.
The Disney Villains appear on screen throughout the party to make threats and introduce dance remixes of their famous songs.
Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Gaston are among the first several villains to appear.
Oogie later pauses the music to praise the party so far. Then he and his henchmen teach the guests their own dance.
After Oogie’s interlude, villains like Yzma and Kronk, Jafar, Hades, and the Queen of Hearts appear.
Even the Ghost Host from the Haunted Mansion makes an “appearance,” with his voice booming across the room as the ride’s famous purple wallpaper blinks down from the screen.
The party wraps up around midnight and Oogie Boogie tells everyone to make a quick exit if they don’t want to be part of his favorite snake and spider stew.
Oogie and his henchmen wave goodbye as guests exit.
