Earlier this month, Disney Springs water taxi service — and other boat transportation throughout Walt Disney World Resort — was suspended due to low water levels. After Central Florida received some rain, the Disney Springs water taxis (also referred to as the Sassagoula Steamboat Company) are back in operation.
Disney Springs Water Taxi Service
Water taxis transport guests to and from Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.
No luggage or alcohol is allowed on Disney watercraft. Strollers must be folded and stowed out of the aisle.
There are three boat launches at Disney Springs under the name Sassagoula Steamboat Co.
The boat launches are at one end by the Marketplace, the other end on the West Side, and the center at The Landing.
Most water taxis run at 15- to 30-minute intervals. As made obvious by the recent low water levels, service can vary based on water conditions and weather. Low water levels and lightning can make operations particularly dangerous.
