The process of replacing all artificial turf throughout Mickey’s Toontown is still taking place at Disneyland, as construction walls have moved to an area near Donald’s boat.
Construction Walls Go Up Near Donald’s Boat
The scrim and walls have gone up toward the front of Donald’s Boat.
The play area directly in front of Donald’s Boat is unaffected, but the splash pad at the bow of the boat is now hidden behind scrim.
There is no refurbishment listed online for this splash pad area, so it is likely this is just another part of the overall refresh of the land’s artificial turf.
Just around the corner from Donald’s mailbox, a bright blue construction wall and door can be seen.
This serves as the entrance to the small construction site.
The scrim continues on through part of the walkway between Donald’s Boat and Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster.
It is likely that the splash pad area will reopen to guests once work is complete in this area.
The Reimagined Mickey’s Toontown
Mickey’s Toontown reopened to Disneyland guests on March 19, 2023 after an extensive reimagining. The land saw many changes, including an increase in the now-under-refurbishment green spaces, quiet areas and other accessibility updates for guests, a new music loop, and additional shade.
Staple structures in the land, like Mickey’s and Minnie’s houses, got a fresh coat of paint in slightly toned-down colors, but were otherwise left unchanged. Two new dining locations were also added to the land.
The land also features meet-and-greets with Mickey and friends, and marked the debut of Pete as a character in the parks.
