Emile's Fromage Montage

Here are the featured foods on Emile’s Fromage Montage (and our reviews):

India: Curry-Spiced Crispy Cheese with Mango-Curry Ketchup – $5.25

india food wine fest 2022 9 1200x800 1

This is Indian cottage cheese which is not bad without the sauce. It has a really unique flavor, a mix between cottage cheese and ricotta. The sauce is extremely overpowering, tasting like ketchup and mango. We would recommend going light on the sauce when you dip. Otherwise, it may be too heavy.

Germany: Schinkennudeln – $5.00

Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions, and Cheese

germany food wine 2022 4 SHIN

We love the flavors of this dish, but it’s very, very heavy. It would be the perfect dish to warm up with in the fall when it finally cools off. It’s pasta gratin with ham, onions, and cheese. Everything fits together nicely and is layered like a casserole. It may be a bit greasy, but its flavor and large portion size for sharing make it worth it.

Greece: Griddled Cheese with Pistachios and Honey – $5.00

griddled cheese 1

The caramelized top has a ton of flavor. It almost tastes like a cross between cheese and crème brûlée. The pistachio adds a nice crunch, giving a sweetness and saltiness to it. It’s a really good cheese dish. If you love cheese, and you want something creative, this is definitely a good item to try.

Brazil: Pão de Queijo – $5.00

Brazil CheeseBread 1 EPCOTFoodandWine 2022

It’s incredibly difficult to recommend these at over $2 each for a piece of cheese bread, even if they are pretty spectacular. You can find a bag of Brazi-Bites in your local grocer for a fraction of the cost if you want to indulge in cheese paradise.

Canada: Cheddar and Bacon Soup – $6.00

served with a Pretzel Roll

canada food wine fest 2022 2

This soup is creamy and has bacon bits throughout. Hints of cheddar cheese make this the best soup on property. It is very hot out for soup, but it still hits the spot. We recommend dipping the pretzel bread into the soup. As good as it is, the price is still a bit high for the portion, though year after year, we keep coming back.

Flavors From Fire: Smoked Corned Beef – $6.50

with House-made Potato Chips, Cheese Curds, Pickled Onions, and Beer-Cheese Fondue

smoked corned beef 1

The beer cheese fondue carries a lot of the dish, but the rest of it isn’t as memorable. When you get a chip with the pickled onion, the meat and the fondue, it does have a really good balance in terms of its flavor profile, having something salty with something a little bit sour, and an added crunch from the chip. There are lots of different textures, but without the fondue, this dish wouldn’t be as great.

Hawai’i: Passion Fruit Cheesecake with Toasted Macadamia Nuts – $4.75

NOTE: Hawai’i opens on August 15, but the Passion Fruit Cheesecake is a returning item. Read our previous review below.

This cheesecake is rather tame on the fruit flavor; the passion fruit on top is subtle enough to be noticed without being overbearing, making this cheesecake nice and balanced. The macadamia nuts paired with the cheesecake are excellent. It’s not the most exciting dessert at the festival, but it’s worth a second look, especially at the price tag.

The Alps: Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Shaved Ham – $5.75

Baby Potatoes, Cornichons, and Baguette

warm raclette swiss cheese with shaved ham 1

This is kind of an adult version of Lunchables. The only difference between this and the other raclette dish is that one has ham and the other doesn’t, but the ham is easily removable. The bread is fresh and very soft. It tastes like the baguette from Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in the France Pavilion. The ham is just like the cold cuts you’d get at a supermarket; they’re nothing super special. The potatoes aren’t remarkable, as there isn’t too much flavor on them, likely to let the cheese be the star of the show. But they are soft, which is nice. The cornichons are also a nice addition. Regardless, the cheese has to be eaten quickly or else it hardens. This one’s worth getting, especially at the price point.

We loved this! It’s an actual block of cheese that they’re melting and then scraping off onto the plate, and unlike many dishes at the festival, this one has a good bread to cheese ratio.

Spain: Charcuterie in Cup – $6.50

a selection of imported Spanish Meats, Cheeses, Olives, and an Herbed Serrano Vinaigrette

spain food wine 2017 cone

They slice the meats fresh right here in the booth before assembling this brilliance in a cone. No, you can’t eat the cone, but you can eat all the cheese, olives, and meats packed into it. There’s value here for the price, due to the freshness of all the ingredients, plus it’s just tasty. We recommend.

The following items will also qualify once their booths open on September 22:

  • Assorted Artisanal Cheeses and Accoutrements – Wine & Wedge Marketplace
  • Boursin Fig and Balsamic Soufflé with Fig Tapenade – Wine & Wedge Marketplace
  • Southern Pimento Cheese with Bread and Butter Pickled Vegetables and Grilled Bread – Wine & Wedge Marketplace

Emile’s Fromage Montage Completer Prize

Reward: Strawberry Cheesecake Soft Serve with Souvenir Cup

topped with a Mini Cheesecake and Graham Cracker Crumbs

Emiles Fromage Montage

Eating all those dishes is worth it because the reward for this Fromage Montage is a spectacular ice cream!

The texture isn’t extremely creamy, but we think that will keep it from melting too fast in the Florida heat.

The cheesecake chunks blend well into the ice cream. It really adds something to make it a fantastic combination.

Of course, the collector cup is always a cute bonus.

This is a perfect treat for a hot day and a great way to wrap up Emile’s Fromage Montage.
