REVIEW: Chocolate Fondue Debuts at The Alps for the 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

If you’re looking for copious amounts of gooey cheese, crunchy bread, and hearty toppings, we recommend hitting The Alps marketplace during your visit to the 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. This booth may be heavy on carbs, but the dishes are worth it. Along with their traditional raclette dishes, there are a couple of different beers to try, along with a new chocolate fondue dessert.

*NEW* Dark Chocolate Fondue with Berries, Pound Cake and Meringues – $5.50

The chocolate fondue that comes with this is very rich and sweet. The pound cake is really good. It’s sweet and moist.  The meringue is an even better combination with the fondue. It’s delicious!

This is a really good dish. It also comes with berries, which are fresh and give the dish a refreshing flavor, and also taste really good in the chocolate. We highly recommend this!

Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Shaved Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette – $5.75

We loved this!

It’s an actual block of cheese that they’re melting and then scraping off onto the plate, and unlike many dishes at the festival, this one has a good bread to cheese ratio.

Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette – $5.25

This is kind of like an adult Lunchables. The only difference between this and the other raclette dish is that one has ham and the other doesn’t, but the ham is easily removable. The bread is fresh and very soft. It tastes like the baguette from Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in the France Pavilion. The ham is just like the cold cuts you’d get at a supermarket; they’re nothing super special.

The potatoes aren’t remarkable, as there isn’t too much flavor on them, likely to let the cheese be the star of the show. But they are soft, which is nice.

The cornichons are also a nice addition. Regardless, the cheese has to be eaten quickly or else it hardens. This one’s worth getting, especially at the price point.

Huber Vision Grüner Veltliner, Austria ($15/bottle) – $6.00

Weingut Markus Huber says this wine has “delicate fresh green apple fruity aromas; displaying flavors of lemon; lime and peaches; solid fruit core; rich in finesse; with a beautiful length and mineral tones.”

Frozen Rosé – $9.00

This is the best “frosé” in EPCOT. But remember, it is Walt Disney World, so it’s not going to blow your mind. It’s a very nice, light yet enjoyable frosé. Cheers!
