As part of The Walt Disney Company’s worldwide celebration for Disney 100 Years of Wonder, residents of Japan are able to catch “Disney Music & Fireworks,” a synchronized music and fireworks show featuring Disney songs, as it travels throughout the country.
‘Disney Music & Fireworks’
Universal Music is behind the event, with help from Disney Concerts, DRC, and cooperation from Tokyo Disney Resort.
We were able to see the performance of the show in Yamanashi, held at Yamanakako Communication Plaza Kirara near Mt. Fuji.
Wristband distribution began around 3:00 p.m.
The weather was a bit dull and cloudy, which led to some fog in the air. But otherwise, it was a fine night to watch some fireworks.
Prior to the event, there were various offerings available, including photo booths, food trucks, and merchandise booths.

There was a lot of different merchandise available for “Disney Music & Fireworks,” including a bucket hat, can badges, keychains, snacks, fans, light-up wands and more.
You could even pick up CDs of Disney music not just from the event itself, but also from Disney’s recent live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” and the 40th anniversary of Tokyo Disneyland.
There were also T-shirts available for the event, in multiple kids’ and adult sizes. Each shirt featured a variation of the “Disney Music & Fireworks” key art.
Once 5:00 p.m. rolled around, it was time to take our seats. The crowd of attendees varied, with plenty of families and children.
The show began at 7:00 p.m. with a quick airing of the music video for the Tokyo Disneyland show, “Jamboree Mickey,” on the big screens ahead. You can watch the video for yourself below:
After that, voice actor Erica Toyohara, who provided the Japanese dubbing for Ariel in Disney’s live-action “The Little Mermaid,” took the stage to perform “Part of Your World” and “Let It Go” in Japanese. The recording of this performance was strictly prohibited, so we were only able to enjoy it in the moment.

Most of the Disney songs included in the show were the Japanese versions.
English subtitles were only shown on the big screens when the narrator spoke during the show. We felt this wasn’t necessarily a language-friendly event, as the focus was mainly on Japanese.
The full show ran for about an hour, and ended around 8:15 p.m.
Once the show came to an end, the narrator shared an English announcement following one in Japanese, asking guests to leave the venue.

“Disney Music & Fireworks” is set to run through the end of the year, with seven total performances. The full schedule includes:
- June 3, 2023 – Hiroshima, Bihoku Hillside Park
- July 1, 2023 – Yamanashi, Yamanakako Communication Plaza Kirara
- September 2, 2023 – Ibaraki, Hitachi Seaside Park
- September 23, 2023 – Yamaguchi, Kirara Expo Memorial Park
- October 21, 2023 – Osaka, Maishima Sports Island
- November 18, 2023 – Miyazaki, Miyazaki Seaside Park
- December 9, 2023 – Okinawa, Ginowan Tropical Beach
‘Disney Music & Fireworks’ Tickets
There are two ticket tiers, with one including just a reserved seat, and the other including a reserved seat with merchandise. Prices are as follows:
Reserved Seat
- Adult – 8,800 yen ($60.97 US)
- Student – 6,600 yen ($45.73 US)
- Preschool Child – 4,400 yen ($30.48 US)
Reserved Seat, with Goods
the “goods” in question are planned to be limited edition face towels
- Adult – 12,100 yen ($83.83 US)
- Student – 9,900 yen ($68.59 US)
- Preschool Child – 7,700 yen ($53.35 US)
