Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting in on the fun for World Princess Week with a special Moana mini cake.
Moana Mini Cake – $7.29
Vanilla Cake filled with Mango Mousse and covered in a wave of Glaçage, Buttercream, Fondant, and White Chocolate Décor
The Moana Mini Cake is cute, with the buttercream and icing making it look like Moana is standing atop a waterfall surrounded by leaves and flowers.
The white chocolate wave is held on with a dollop of white buttercream.
The vanilla cake is decent, but nothing special. Luckily, it isn’t dry.
The mousse is rather subtle, while the mango flavor is almost hard to find unless you’re really searching for it.
The blue wave icing on top has a jelly-like consistency and a weird texture.
The buttercream on top is really thick, like butter. The crispy pearls on the inside give it a little bit of crunch, which is pleasant.
This is okay, but it really just tastes like a lot of sugar, and if you’re getting it specifically for the mango/fruity flavor, we’d recommend you probably pass on this and go to Pineapple Lanai for a DOLE Whip instead.
Disney is celebrating World Princess Week from August 20 through 26 this year, though the treats will be available through August 31.
There are several princess-themed treats available at Walt Disney World Resort this month. We also reviewed the new Ariel Milkshake at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, DOLE Whip Rapunzel Cone at Disney Springs, Snow White Cupcake at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and “Moana” Heart of Te Fiti Cupcake at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Walt Disney World will also be hosting the first-ever “Once Upon A Wish Party” during World Princess Week this August for Make-A-Wish kids and their families.
