As part of the opening of Journey of Water Inspired by Moana, a Moana meet and greet featuring the heroine is coming to EPCOT.

Moana Meet and Greet at EPCOT

Announced this morning as part of the Disney Parks panel at Destination D23, guests will be able to meet Moana near her new attraction starting October 16, 2023 — the same day that Journey of Water Inspired by “Moana” opens to guests.

Fellow voyagers will be able to experience the Moana meet and greet in a new area located across from Journey of Water. Concept art of this meet and greet area was released, which you can see above.

Journey of Water Details

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is a “self-guided outdoor trail where you can play with water as it travels from the sky to the oceans and back again.” It combines interactive water experiences with information about the Earth’s water supply, ringing true to EPCOT’s original goal of offering attractions that both entertain and inform.

The walkthrough experience will have both a “wet” path and a “dry” path, for guests who want to choose whether or not they get wet. Journey of Water also features characters from the animated film, in both subtle and obvious ways.

“Along with Moana as a steward of water conservation, Te Fiti is a symbol of how we should protect and nurture water wherever we find it,” Reid Ekman, Lead Concept Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, said of the giant Te Fiti figure at the attraction.

This is an important theme in Journey of Water, where guests will learn more about how water travels from our skies to the ocean, and back again. This story will unfold along a lush trail inspired by the environments and art style of the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film.

The second round of Cast Member previews for Journey of Water is happening now; previews for Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members were also recently announced.
