REVIEW: Coco Skeleton Bone Pastry Arrives at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month

A new treat inspired by a beloved Pixar film has been introduced at Walt Disney World Resort to celebrate Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month 2023, which runs from September 15 through October 15. The “Coco” Skeleton Bone Pastry is now available at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Know Before You Go: The Gasparilla Island Grill and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, in general, are currently under extensive renovations.

Coco Skeleton Bone Pastry – $6.99

Bone-shaped pastry filled with dulce de leche Bavarian cream coated with white and dark chocolate and a “Coco” image

The éclair is aesthetically charming and well-themed, looking akin to a bone that you could find on any of the skeletons in the 2017 film. The cookie sat atop the pastry is also well-decorated, though not particularly earth-shattering flavor-wise.

The overall flavor is what ascends this treat from “cute, but forgettable” to “must try” territory. It’s simply delicious. The pastry itself is well made, with the flaky, soft dough serving as the perfect canvas for its complementary flavors. The layer of icing adds a nice sweetness, while the chocolate cookie crumb at the base effectively adds texture and another layer of flavor.

The dulce de leche-flavored Bavarian cream is the true star of the dessert, with its custard-like texture and delectable taste elevating above the myriad of other (admittedly very good) flavors found in this treat.

The Coco Skeleton Bone Pastry is chilled until you order it, which only adds to its light and refreshing nature. We found ourselves tempted to order a second, which isn’t something we say about every Walt Disney World Resort dessert. If you’re able to get to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at any point throughout Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, we definitely think you should check this treat out.

It will be available through October 15.
