Additional doors through which guests will ultimately look for a picturesque view of Seven Seas Lagoon have been installed as work continues to progress on the Disney Vacation Club tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Sliding glass doors have been added to the vast majority of the rooms on the side of the building that overlooks the water.
More Doors Added to DVC Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Over 70 water-view rooms in the tower’s central structure now feature sliding glass doors leading to their respective balconies. Door installation, while far from a finishing touch, is a visible indicator of progress, and much progress has been made on this particular portion of the project over the past few weeks. We first noticed door installation at the tower on September 2, with just a handful of rooms on the other side of the tower having visible balcony doors by the middle of the month.
The doors themselves are contemporary in appearance and feel, each having sleek dark frames that match the planned modern look of the tower. Carved rectangles where sliding glass doors will ultimately be placed can be seen in other sections of the under-construction tower.
While the addition of balcony doors is the most significant visual change, work continues on other parts of the project. Work vehicles are visible on the ground along the waterfront, and we spotted an aerial work platform extended into a large opening in the tower’s facade that stretches between the second and third floors.
Workers can be seen in several parts of the tower.
Disney Vacation Club Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
The Disney Vacation Club tower addition to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was announced in March 2022 and is set to bring a more modern aesthetic to the Polynesian-themed lodging that opened alongside Walt Disney World Resort in October 1971. The above concept art was released at the time of the announcement, but as with all concept art, may not be completely reflective of the final appearance.
Foundational work started in late 2022, and the project went vertical in early 2023. Construction has progressed significantly since, and the tower still has a projected opening window of late 2024. The Disney Vacation Club wing of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort sits on the edge of Seven Seas Lagoon and will feature its own beach and pool.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was an opening day hotel option at Walt Disney World Resort, opening alongside Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Contemporary Resort on October 1, 1971. It’s located on the Monorail loop that connects Magic Kingdom to the hotels surrounding Seven Seas Lagoon and, like all hotels on the loop, is considered a deluxe resort.
The Disney Vacation Club tower addition is another alteration in what has been an eventful few years for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort; the resort’s standard rooms received “Moana” theming and the Disney Vacation Club rooms received a soft goods update in 2021, and the upholstery and rugs were updated in the lobby of the resort’s Great Ceremonial House in early 2023.
