An illusion art mural has been under construction right outside the esplanade at Disneyland Resort to commemorate The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. After The Villas held their grand opening yesterday, the mural has also been completed.
Completed Illusion Art Mural for The Villas at Disneyland Hotel
The mural, created by artist Nate Baranowski, depicts a painter’s palette with tubes of red, blue, and yellow paint. Various backdrops of art featuring Minnie Mouse and the Steamboat from “Steamboat Willie” are present on the art. The tubes also have the icon for the new Disney Vacation Club tower on them.
If you stand on the blue paint tube, the resulting photo looks as though you’re squeezing out the paint.
Mickey as Steamboat Willie also looks 3-D, as though he’s standing up and out of the artwork. He even “casts” a shadow behind him, as does the paintbrush, palette, and paints.
A sign off to the left of the mural shows how guests can pose to best capture the illusion in their photos.
