Audley and Toombs both passed away in 1991. Susanne Blakeslee provides the voice of Madame Leota, Lady Tremaine, and Maleficent in new media. Leota Toombs’ daughter, Kim Irvine, is now an Imagineer and provides physical portrayals of Madame Leota when needed, such as for Haunted Mansion Holiday. The Haunted Mansion

Haunted Mansion Disneyland Spring Wreath

The Haunted Mansion has become one of Disney’s most iconic attractions since its opening at Disneyland in 1969 and on the opening day of Walt Disney World in 1971. A clone of the Walt Disney World attraction opened at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983. The ride serves as inspiration for Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris and Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Hatbox Ghost

The atmospheric ride strikes a delicate blend between funny and frightening that has charmed generations. The Disneyland version of the attraction received a major addition in 2015 when the Hatbox Ghost, an original effect removed from the ride due to technical difficulties, was re-added.

The Hatbox Ghost is due to debut at the Magic Kingdom version of the Haunted Mansion in late November. The Hatbox Ghost will occupy the Endless Hallway in the Walt Disney World mansion. The ride was recently closed for refurbishment and reopened with a few updates, including a slightly updated look for Madame Leota.

Disneyland recently revealed that they would be expanding the grounds of their Haunted Mansion to include a new gift shop and gardens inspired by various Haunted Mansion characters. The “spirited metamorphosis” will take place next year.

ColourPop Cosmetics recently released a new makeup collection inspired by the live-action “Haunted Mansion” movie.
