Exterior refurbishment has begun at the Rainforest Cafe in Disney Springs, and guests will need to follow signage to reach the entrance of the building at the foot of a temporarily dormant volcano.
Rainforest Cafe Exterior Construction
When visiting Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs Marketplace, Guests will need to navigate into the building following the signs posted on the temporary walls surrounding the building. Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs Marketplace is open during this exterior construction.
Scaffolding has been erected around the volcano on the exterior of the restaurant’s building. At the base of the building and along the sidewalk, green temporary walls have been installed to guide pedestrians around the construction area. Though the audio of the erupting volcano is still cycling, no fire effects are currently being used.
This section of the volcano’s sign for Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs Marketplace is exposed and has not been covered with scaffolding.
The other side of the volcano has the scaffolding right against the lettering of the logo for the restaurant.
Walkways for the construction workers are not fully installed at this point, but some have been placed on this level.
Coming up to the building, this large sign guides visitors toward the Lava Lounge’s temporary entrance.
When you walk around the corner from the sign above, you will see a small break in the temporary wall through which guests can walk into the Lava Lounge. Along the temporary wall, several access points for cast and construction members are also visible. Above, a door with keycard access has been installed for this purpose near the entrance to the Lava Lounge.
Here, you can see further signage indicating that Restaurant Cafe at Disney Springs Marketplace is open despire the exterior construction. As you continue walking along the temporary wall, more signs announcing the restaurant’s availability have been posted.
This sign tells guests that the exterior construction will “upgrade your dining experience.”
Further down, there is a large piece of concept art with the Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs Marketplace with dramatic exterior changes to the restaurant. In the image above, the volcano’s special effect eruption appears more intense than the current intermittent flame. Additionally, lava appears to run down the side of the volcano and into the waterfall area in this image. Currently, this is not part of the design of the volcano, so the art is either a highly stylized interpretation of the periodic flames and lights currently emitted from the top of the volcano, or the art showcases an upgrade.
Are you hoping the exterior construction includes lava flow depicted in the concept art, or do you think there’s some artistic license being exercised in the image? Let us know in the comments.
