“Phineas and Ferb” co-creator and voice of Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Dan Povenmire, shared a story on TikTok of a fun encounter with a Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Cast Member at Disneyland.

Before boarding the ride, guests are “arrested” by the First Order. Cast Members portraying First Order officers can’t break character, remaining serious throughout the process of lining guests up and sending them into a jail cell.

As Povenmire describes, the First Order Cast Member he encountered told him after he entered the cell, “It’s so unexpected that you got caught, and by unexpected, of course I mean completely expected.” Povenmire added a clip to the end of his video of Dr. Doofenshmirtz saying approximately the same thing to Perry the Platypus in an episode of “Phineas & Ferb.” Povenmire says the interaction made his day.

This isn’t Povenmire’s first fun story from Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. A few months ago, he got stuck on the ride, so video called his friend Scott Trowbridge, Senior Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, who helped design Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Povenmire jokingly demanded Trowbridge fix the ride, while Trowbridge grabbed an R2 unit toy and said the droid was working on it.

Last month, Povenmire also showed off the giant Doofenshmirtz prop from the former Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure at EPCOT that Walt Disney Imagineering gifted him.

‘Phineas and Ferb’ Revival

“Phineas and Ferb” originally ran from 2007 to 2015. Earlier this year, Disney Branded Television ordered a 40-episode revival, to be split into two seasons, as part of a deal with Povenmire that also includes a second season of his show “Hamster & Gretel.”

“Dan is renowned for his ability to create universally beloved stories and characters with both heart and humor,” Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded television, said at the time. “We couldn’t be happier to continue our collaboration with him and bring back the iconic ‘Phineas and Ferb’ in a big way.”

Co-creator Jeff “Swampy” Marsh will also be returning to the series as executive producer and voice director.
