Scaffolding Removed From Cowboy Cookin’ Set Building at Woody’s Lunch Box in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Scaffolding surrounding the structure behind Woody’s Lunch Box in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been deconstructed, suggesting that work on the project may be at or nearing its conclusion. Initial work on the building started in 2022 before it went vertical in early 2023, sticking out as a strange unadorned concrete box amidst the intricately-themed structures of Toy Story Land in early July. Painting on the exterior of the building started in August, and the removal of scaffolding indicates that at least the bulk of the aesthetic work is complete. The structure will reportedly be a prep kitchen.

One side is adorned by a Wild West-inspired mural that features a covered wagon in front of a scenic mountain backdrop. “Cowboy Cookin’ Set” is written on the art, with the first word spelled out with a rope.

Cactuses are also seen throughout the mural.

The side of the building visible from the exit path of Toy Story Mania offers a glimpse into what’s inside the fictional cooking set. Labeled illustrations of hot dogs, coffee, jerky, beans, cups, and a ladle appear; they’re all bordered by a long looped rope.

The removal of the scaffolding suggests that the fences and scrim that have occupied this portion of Toy Story Land for well over a year may soon be coming down, as well.

Woody’s Lunch Box is a quick-service restaurant that opened alongside Toy Story Land in June 2018. It’s long served its own takes on classic American fare, such as the grilled cheese and turkey sandwiches, also becoming known for its totchos offering. Woody’s Lunch Box also serves “Lunch Box Tarts,” which could perhaps best be described as Walt Disney World Resort’s answer to Pop-Tarts. They look akin to the toaster pastry and have been offered in several flavors; while raspberry and sweet potato tarts currently appear on the menu, specialty flavors such as smores, pumpkin, and banana fudge have been offered in the past.

The dining options at Toy Story Land expanded in March 2023 with the opening of Roundup Rodeo BBQ. Read our full review of the restaurant here.
