As part of a recent first look inside the new Zootopia land coming to Shanghai Disney Resort, a glimpse at two of the audio-animatronics inside the land’s flagship attraction, Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, were shared online.
Video was released September 5 on the official Shanghai Disney Resort Instagram account.
Officer Clawhauser Audio-Animatronic
We got our first glimpse at the audio-animatronic for Officer Clawhauser in September 2022, though now he’s in his position at his desk for the Zootopia Police Department.
Guests will encounter Clawhauser when they enter ZPD for “orientation,” as part of the upcoming attraction, Zootopia: Hot Pursuit.
Clawhauser asks guests if they don’t mind him putting on some music, though with the Gazelle mug on his desk, it’s easy to guess what he might play.
The audio-animatronic appears to have small screens for eyes instead of physical eye mechanics, which offer a range of emotive visuals to drive the scene.
At one point in the clip, Clawhauser turns in his desk chair and begins to type at his computer in one fluid motion.
At the end of the clip, he begins to hum “Try Everything,” Gazelle’s song performed by Shakira for “Zootopia.”
Chief Bogo Audio-Animatronic
The second animatronic shown off today was that of Chief Bogo, the police chief at ZPD.
Guests encounter him after an alarm sounds and they are whisked into an emergency meeting, with Officer Judy Hopps and Officer Nick Wilde present via video.
In this meeting, guests will learn that pop star Gazelle has been kidnapped, and they’ve been assigned to be back-up to Judy and Nick.
Like Clawhauser, the audio-animatronic for Chief Bogo moves very fluidly and exhibits a range of emotions on his face as the encounter ensues.
Though he stays in one place for the entirety of the video, he does point one arm multiple times, and appears to grip his podium as he briefs guests on their new mission.
You can watch both audio-animatronics in action in the video below:
Zootopia: Hot Pursuit
In Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, guests will become a rookie police officer at the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD). The ride is set after the events of the animated film, as residents of the animal city are gearing up for a Zootopia Day concert featuring Gazelle.
Guests are assigned as back-up to Officer Judy Hopps and her partner, Officer Nick Wilde. They hop into police car-inspired vehicles.
Guests will be caught up in an action-filled police chase, traversing Zootopia’s various terrains, “sliding across the ice of Tundra Town, prowling for fugitives through the streets of Sahara Square, sharing a too-close-for-comfort encounter at Mystic Springs Oasis, and plummeting from the canopies of the Rainforest District all in pursuit of Bellwether and her gang to track down Gazelle.”
