Disney has confirmed that a Haunted Mansion bar expanding the iconic attraction’s story will materialize aboard the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s sixth vessel that will embark on its maiden voyage in late 2024. The news was initially shared in an Entertainment Weekly article, but WDWNT reported that a Haunted Mansion bar was in the works for the new ship this past July.
Haunted Mansion Bar Confirmed for Disney Treasure
The Haunted Mansion Parlor is described by Disney as the “next chapter” in the Haunted Mansion lore, telling the story of a captain “who entered the ghostly realm” following a dinner with his fiancée that, presumably, did not end well. While the referenced sea captain may be an entirely new character, several existing characters in the Haunted Mansion lore fit the bill; a sea captain briefly appears as a ghost in the attraction, while a portrait of a mariner is seen in the Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland versions of the ride. The Mariner is also a minor character in the 2023 “Haunted Mansion” film.
An unused backstory for the attraction developed by Imagineer Ken Anderson also centered around Captain Gore, a deceased sea captain.
The Disney Treasure bar, according to EW, will pull “aesthetic theming” from the Disneyland version of the attraction, which opened in the New Orleans Square section of the park in 1969. The ride’s iconic purple wallpaper and “Donald Duck” chair will be present, and it looks as though the hitchhiking ghosts have finally caught a ride, as they’ll be seen behind the bar. An attraction-inspired arrangement composed by Shruti Kumar will play throughout the venue.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor will include “legendary characters from Haunted Mansion attractions at Disney Parks around the world;” there are versions of the attraction at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland, while the ride also inspired Phantom Manor, which opened at Disneyland Paris in 1992, and Mystic Manor, which commenced operations at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2013. Disney has also confirmed that the bar will introduce new characters into the Haunted Mansion lore.
Several themed beverages will be available at the Haunted Mansion Parlor, with Disney detailing the Ghoulish Delight, Sympathetic Libations, and Signature Beverage in their initial announcement. Disney also shared recipes for the revealed beverages on their website.
Exclusive Haunted Mansion-inspired merchandise will also be available aboard the Disney Treasure. Check out the previewed merchandise here.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor will commence operations along with the rest of the Disney Treasure in December 2024.
Disney Treasure
The Disney Treasure will be an adventure-themed ship that will be the same size and have the same layout as the Disney Wish, which launched in 2022. Its maiden voyage will begin on December 21, 2024.
The Haunted Mansion will not be the only Disney Parks attraction with representation aboard the vessel, as Disney announced in September that the Skipper Society Lounge inspired by the “Jungle Cruise” will be a Disney Treasure offering. Other bars and cafes on the Disney Treasure include The Periscope Pub, Jade Cricket Café, and Heihei Café, which are inspired by Disney’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” “Mulan,” and “Moana,” respectively.
Entertainment options on the Disney Treasure will include the “Disney The Tale of Moana” Broadway-style show alongside Disney Crusie Line’s pre-existing “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure” shows. The ship will also contain its own version of the AquaMouse, which debuted on the Disney Wish, and a “The Lion King”-inspired central hub for daily activities and evening adult entertainment known as Sarabi.
The three family dining locations aboard the Disney Treasure will be Plaza de Coco, 1923, and Worlds of Marvel. Plaza de Coco and Worlds of Marvel will contain dinner shows.
