An original Broadway-style production known as “Disney The Tale of Moana” will debut in December 2024 aboard the Disney Treasure, the sixth Disney Cruise Line ship that will embark on its maiden voyage that same month. Disney announced the new show on the Disney Parks Blog on the morning of October 10.

Disney Parks Blog shared the following as part of an update to the Disney Treasure Ship’s Log Progress Report:
In December 2024, the curtain will open on a brand-new original Broadway-style production on the Disney Treasure. Joining a dazzling lineup of fan-favorite shows including “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure,” will be none other than “Disney The Tale of Moana.” Debuting exclusively at the Walt Disney Theatre onboard the Disney Treasure, “Disney The Tale of Moana” will bring the adventurous journey of Moana, inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, to center stage for the first time. The show will follow Moana as she embarks on an incredible journey to save her island after she is chosen by the ocean to restore the heart of Te Fiti. Fans of the original film will recognize many beloved characters like Gramma Tala, Maui and Tamatoa when they appear on stage, as well as songs from the film’s iconic soundtrack.

Disney also announced that it will soon be launching a search for performers to partake in the production.
Disney announced on September 5 that the Disney Treasure would feature an “all-new Broadway-style stage production” in the Walt Disney Theatre, but the name and theme of the show were not announced at that time.
“Moana” will have additional representation aboard the Disney Treasure in the form of Heihei Café, a dining location inspired by the 2016 Walt Disney Animation Studios film. Disney announced the “Moana”-inspired eatery in early September alongside the Jungle Cruise-inspired Skipper Society Lounge, the “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”-themed Periscope Pub, and the Disney’s “Mulan”-inspired Jade Cricket Café.

The Disney Treasure will be an adventure-themed ship that will be the same size and have the same layout as the Disney Wish, which launched in 2022. Its maiden voyage will begin on December 21, 2024.
Additional entertainment options on the Disney Treasure will include Disney Crusie Line’s pre-existing “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure” shows. The ship will also contain its own version of the AquaMouse, which debuted on the Disney Wish, and a “The Lion King”-inspired central hub for daily activities and evening adult entertainment known as Sarabi.
The three family dining locations aboard the Disney Treasure will be Plaza de Coco, 1923, and Worlds of Marvel. Plaza de Coco and Worlds of Marvel will contain dinner shows.
