‘Coco’ Restaurant with Dinner Show Announced for Disney Treasure Cruise Ship

During today’s premiere of “Unlocking The Disney Treasure: Adventure Awaits Onboard Disney’s Newest Ship,” Disney Cruise Line announced that the Disney Treasure would indeed have the rumored “Coco” dinner show. Plaza de Coco

Plaza de Coco will have musical performances by a Mariachi band, a foliage-covered ceiling, and “Coco” art. Miguel and his family will appear and the food will be traditional Mexican cuisine “with a modern twist.” Here is Disney’s description:

Plaza de Coco will be the first theatrical dining experience themed to the Disney and Pixar film, “Coco.” This theater-in-the-round entertainment venue will feature dining tables surrounding a central stage, with performances and show effects that will spread throughout the room. Guests will enjoy two different nights of unique dining experiences at Plaza de Coco during their voyage.

On the first night, the story of Miguel and his familia will continue where it left off on screen as they gather in Mariachi Plaza to take guests on a colorful, music-filled journey that celebrates family memories and togetherness. On the second night, Miguel will reunite with his great-great grandparents, Hector and Mama Imelda, by transporting them to Santa Cecilia with the help of his magic guitar for a Día de los Muertos celebration. Both nights will feature a dinner menu of modern twists on traditional Mexican fare and a lineup of live entertainment.

The Disney Treasure map gifted to influencers featured Santa Cecilia, Miguel’s hometown in “Coco,” fueling rumors of a “Coco” restaurant and/or entertainment.

Most Disney Cruise Line ships have at least one restaurant with a dinner show, like Rapunzel’s Royal Table on the Disney Magic and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure on the Disney Wish.

On land, Mariachi Cobre performed music from “Coco” with a Miguel puppet at EPCOT in 2019 and “A Musical Celebration of Coco” at Disney California Adventure features the same puppet. Casa de Coco — Restaurante de Familia recently opened at Disneyland Paris. During the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, L. Seven Taylor (Mufasa in “The Lion King” on Broadway) announced that Disney on Broadway was developing a “Coco” stage show.

The adventure-themed Disney Treasure is scheduled to set sail in December 2024. The ship’s design is inspired by Walt Disney’s love of exploration. Disney launched a ship’s log page to track the construction of the ship in July.

The Disney Treasure’s Grand Hall (atrium) will have a blue and gold color scheme. The golden atrium statue will feature Aladdin and Jasmine riding the Magic Carpet.

Peter Pan and Captain Hook will be the larger-than-life character figures on the stern of the Disney Treasure.

Captain Minnie debuted a new “Voyager” outfit for the Disney Treasure. Voyager Minnie is featured on the keel coin, which was laid in March. Voyager Minnie will also be on the Disney Treasure’s bow.

A new adventurer character, Arthur Quinn, has also been introduced in Disney Treasure announcements.
