New ‘Cars’ Tow Mater Crocs Debut

Dad gum! There are new Tow Mater Crocs. The new shoes inspired by the “Cars” character were released on Crocs.com on Tuesday and instantly sold out of adult sizes, but will apparently be restocked later today.

The Crocs resemble Mater, a rusty brown tow truck. Some old blue paint is along the sides of the shoes, and black tires are pictured on the backs.

Mater’s green eyes and crooked teeth are on the front.

The clogs even have a tow hook on the back.

The Mater Crocs are currently available online in kids sizes for $49.99 and toddler sizes for $44.99. Kids Lightning McQueen Crocs are also still available, for $54.99.

A countdown on the Crocs Instagram story indicates the Mater Crocs will be restocked at 4:00 p.m. ET. In comments on their recent posts, Crocs said the shoes are available at all retail locations today.

Are you hoping to wear the new Tow Mater Crocs to Cars Land? Let us know in the comments.

Cars Land

Cars Land opened in 2012, the core of an over $1 billion expansion of Disney California Adventure after years of struggle with small size and an inadequate amount of qualitative rides. Before this space was Cars Land, most of it was a parking lot. A more general car-themed land called Carland was actually in development when Pixar’s “Cars” hit it big in 2006 and Disney decided to shift gears to the IP.

There are three rides:

  • Radiator Springs Racers is a slot car dark ride similar to Test Track at EPCOT and Journey to the Center of the Earth at Tokyo DisneySea.
  • Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters is a trackless ride using similar technology as Aquatopia at Tokyo DisneySea (but without water). It opened in 2016, replacing the short-lived Luigi’s Flying Tires, a bumper/hover-car ride that was plagued with issues.
  • Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree is a whip ride similar to Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and The Happy Ride with Baymax at Tokyo Disneyland.

In the fall, Cars Land is decorated for Haul-O-Ween. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters becomes Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. During the winter holidays, they become Mater’s Jingle Jamboree and Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl.

Guests can get food at Cozy Cone Motel, Flo’s V8 Cafe, and Fillmore’s Taste-In. Lightning McQueen, Mater, and other cars make appearances in the land.
