UPDATE: Reopening and Temporary Closure Dates Pushed Back for Areas of Reimagined Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland as Refurbishment Continues

Back in September, Orange County Register reported that two areas in Mickey’s Toontown were set to reopen and temporarily close as part of refurbishment efforts in the reimagined land at Disneyland Park. Now, the Disneyland Resort operating calendar has been updated, showing that the dates for these changes have shifted a bit.

CenTOONial Park Reopening

Mickey's Toontown Reopening and Temporary Closing Dates Adjusted for Offerings at Disneyland

Previously the OC Register confirmed that CenTOONial Park would be closed through October 22, reopening on October 23.

Now, the Disneyland Resort website’s operating hours for the offering state that it will remain closed through Sunday, October 29, and reopen on October 30. The operating hours for that day are listed as 8 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard was previously scheduled to go down for refurbishment the day that CenTOONial Park would reopen, on October 23. Now, the area will close on Monday, October 30.

According to the Disneyland Resort operating calendar, Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard will return from refurbishment on Friday, November 10. Of course, this is subject to change without notice.

Mickey’s Toontown Refurbishment

Despite reopening after its reimagining earlier this year, Mickey’s Toontown has been undergoing various temporary closures to refresh the land’s artificial turf.

The various updates are to address issues with the turf, as well as water features and rubber flooring. For CenTOONial Park, the closure was specifically to adjust the soft surface around the Dreaming Tree, repair a leak under the fountain, and replace a portion of turf with brick pavers. The latter fix is at a crossing point where guests would walk, and made it hard for kids to play on the turf.

The interactive Mickey and Minnie fountain has seen issues before. New elements were added in July and some effects were not working properly until August.

In Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard, more play elements will be added and repaired. Back in June, spring riders were removed from the yard and in May, a birdhouse was removed.

Though the water play area of Donald’s Duck Pond did open in March after the rest of the land, it has since been closed.

Disneyland officials have previously said that they hope to have construction work done by early November.
