Painting has finally started on the mural on the wall behind Minion Cafe. When Universal Orlando released details for the new Minion Land at Universal Studios Florida, the concept art depicted an Illumination Entertainment mural on the wall behind Minion Cafe. Minion Land officially opened on August 11, 2023, with a blank blue wall, but work has finally started on the new mural.

Illumination Mural in Minion Land

The mural is being added to the side of the Transformers ride building. Earlier this year, one side of the gray, themed ride building was painted a bright, sky blue. Now, we have the first signs of the mural being added.

A half circle of white paint has been added along the very top of the building, where we expect to see artwork of Max from “The Secret Life of Pets.”

According to the concept art, this yellow section is part of a Minion body, and the black section is the Minion’s hair. In addition, the Illumination Entertainment mural will only take up this one rectangular section of the wall.

The outline of other characters can be seen just below the yellow paint. Other characters, including those from “Sing”, will be added eventually. “Illumination” will be written across the mural artwork when it’s finally completed.

Several details around the land were added or updated after the official opening, including the hair on the Minion Land sign.

It might have taken a few months to start, but we’re finally getting the Illumination mural at Universal Studios Florida. We’ll be watching the progress of the new mural, so be sure to stay tuned for more updates!
