After being removed in mid-September, the squawking seagull figures are back at The Seas With Nemo & Friends in EPCOT.
Seagulls Return
The animatronic birds were presumably removed for refurbishment. In September, the rocks they sit on were a much lighter color than they are now as the paint was touched up.
Since the removal of the birds, crews have been refurbishing the entire exterior of The Seas, including painting the top of the building a beige color reminiscent of its original look when the park opened in 1986.
The birds themselves may have been refurbished during their two months gone.
Work has also been ongoing on the mural wall by the entrance to the attraction.
Mural Refurbishment
The mural features flat fish decorations, some inspired by “Finding Nemo” characters. Various decorations have been removed from and returned to the wavy wall over the past few weeks.
In October, Squirt and Dory were both removed, but they have been replaced.
The cutouts of Nemo and Marlin have been painted a deep orange color closer to their actual color. They were previously bright yellow.
The largest cutouts of Crush, Bruce, and Mr. Ray are still missing.
The rest of the fish appear to be approximately the same colors that they were before.
Dory is light blue and Squirt is green. The cutouts have more minimalistic designs than the characters do in the “Finding Nemo” film and ride.
There are pegs sticking out of the wall where character cutouts used to be.
Below is a photo of the façade from 2021, including the yellow Nemo and Marlin cutouts beneath Crush.

The roof was painted light blue when “Finding Nemo” took over in the early 2000s. The sun was also removed from the mural and character cutouts were added.
