REVIEW: Joh Blastoh Sangria Gocola and Millaflower Toast Arrive for Life Day 2023 at Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland

Guests visiting Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland this holiday season can enjoy a new drink and snack inspired by Life Day celebrations. The drink is Joh Blastoh Sangria Gocola, while the snack is Millaflower Toast.

Life Day, which originates with the infamous “Star Wars Holiday Special,” is celebrated on November 17 each year. It’s technically a Wookiee holiday but has spread across the galaxy to be celebrated by various species and cultures. Batuu gets in on the celebrations each winter with food items and more.

Joh Blastoh Sangria Gocola – $19

“Joh Blastoh” is a holiday carol in Huttese, the best-known version of which was performed by Luleo Primoc. The song itself appeared in the 2020 LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, but Luleo Primoc first appeared in “Solo.” Joh Blastoh Punch is in the Life Day Cookbook, and the sangria has a similar citrus base but is not the same as the punch.

This is a delightful drink that is perfect for Life Day and the regular holiday season.

It’s cranberry heavy with cinnamon sugar on the rim, and it tastes exactly like how the holidays should.

It’s super refreshing and sweet, and honestly a new favorite of ours from the Oga’s menu.

Millaflower Toast – $12

This is another dish similar to one from the Life Day Cookbook. However, the cookbook version uses a crusty brown toast like ciabatta while Oga is serving a version with crepes. The dish is enjoyed year-round but is particularly popular during Life Day since it uses red Millaflowers, among other red toppings like strawberries, that resemble the holiday’s traditional robes. Millaflowers are native to Naboo.

Unfortunately, nothing on this toast actually resembles the red edible Millaflowers as they appeared in the cookbook. But it’s not a bad dish. The texture is part crepe, part cake, but crispy.

It takes a moment to get the full flavor, but when you do, it tastes distinctly like a vanilla birthday cake with buttercream frosting and fruit on top. The fruit is the appropriately red strawberries and cranberries. There are also sprinkles of cinnamon and powdered sugar, which add some necessary sweetness.

It’s a very “Star Wars” dessert and not our favorite Life Day offering this year, but not a bad option.
