One of our favorite booths available during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is Shi Wasu Holiday Kitchen. All of the traditional Japanese dishes and flavors absolutely shine at this booth, and we’re excited to see what they have on the menu for this year!

Sushi Tree: Sushi Roll with Krab Meat and Cream Cheese topped with Aonori Seaweed, Ikura Salmon Roe and Spicy Mayonnaise – $7.50
This was delicious! The tree shape gives it a very Christmassy feel. The cream cheese balances out the sushi, while the boba tastes like soy sauce. They explode in your month. It’s a basic sushi roll, but it’s elevated with the spicy mayo and the presentation is adorable. This one’s a winner.
New Year Celebration Soba: Buckwheat Soba Noodles in a Hot Dashi Soup with Yuzu, Shrimp Tempura, and Chopped Green Onion – $8.50
Our resident Japanese reporter had a lot to say about this dish, including the fact that there was too much flour used in the tempura. The noodles also weren’t up to par and were overcooked.
Our American reporter didn’t mind the dish, but noted it was nothing special.
*NEW* Sweet Potato Mochi Cake: Gooey Sweet Potato Mochi Cake with Purple Sweet Potato Cream, Strawberry, Black Sugary Syrup and Sesame Seeds – $6.50
Our Japanese reporter says that this isn’t a traditional Japanese dessert, and thought that the cake was rather oily. The rest of our reporters agreed the cake was bland with an unappealing texture. It was colorful though and we liked the addition of the strawberry.
Ichigo Milk Boba: Cranberry and Yuzu Cream drink featuring Japanese Calpico Soft Drink and Popping Strawberry Boba Pearls (Non-Alcoholic) – $7.00
This is a very cranberry-forward drink that mixes well with the yuzu. The popping bobas are a nice touch. It’s light, fruity, and very sweet. The whipped cream on top didn’t even melt, somehow—it stayed intact the entire time. The only drawback is that it’s small, but this would be great for kids.
Japanese Christmas Punch: Shōchū, Plum Wine, Cranberry and Lemon – $8.25
This is a very plum wine-forward drink. It has a light lemon flavoring in the background, which helps make it very easy to drink. It tastes more like a refresher, and we would like to get it over ice if the opportunity arose. There’s not a ton of alcohol taste in it, but we would get this again.
Choya Sparkling Plum Wine ($19/bottle) – $8.25
Drizly describes this plum wine as “the perfect balance of sparkling wine and tart Japanese ume [a plum-like fruit], with backnotes of citrus and white peach.”
Sapporo Premium Beer (4.9% ABV) – $5.00 for 6 oz., $9.50 for 12 oz.
Sapporo describes their Premium Beer as “a refreshing lager with a crisp, refined flavor and a clean finish. The perfect beer to pair with any meal and any occasion.”
