If you’re looking to upgrade your meal at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with a festive touch, Backlot Express has two returning menu items for the season: the red velvet whoopie pie and frozen salted caramel hot cocoa.

Red Velvet Whoopie Pie – $5.29

Red Velvet Cake, candy cane buttercream, and holiday sprinkles

A holiday twist on the classic carrot cake cookie at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this red velvet whoopie pie evokes the red and green colors of Christmas, filled with peppermint-candy cane frosting.

The top is covered with powdered sugar for a snowy look.

The peppermint frosting isn’t too dense and is very sweet rather than overpowering. It pairs with the light and fluffy cake perfectly.

We absolutely recommend giving this a try, although you should probably eat it with a fork and knife, lest you get powdered sugar and red food coloring stains everywhere.

Frozen Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa – $5.99

Topped with mini marshmallows and chocolate sauce.

This drink is really delicious and rich. It’s a pretty big size, so it is a lot for one person.

The drink itself is a frozen version of hot cocoa complete with marshmallows on top with chocolate drizzle. The salted caramel flavor wasn’t very prominent, instead being lost in the sheer chocolatiness of this drink.

Frozen Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa with Cherry Bourbon — $13.50

Topped with mini marshmallows and chocolate sauce.

You really have to like cherry to like this bourbon frozen hot cocoa.

There is such a strong cherry taste, it’s good, but overpowering. We actually preferred the non-alcoholic version more than this.

The Frozen Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate is available at ABC Commissary, Backlot Express, PizzeRizzo, and Rosie’s All–American Café.
