RUMOR: The Classic Haunted Mansion Will Not Return to Disneyland Park Until 2025

Reports indicate that due to the upcoming changes, the classic Haunted Mansion won’t return to Disneyland park until 2025.

Haunted Mansion

Currently, the attraction is operating as Haunted Mansion Holiday, a “The Nightmare Before Christmas” themed overlay for the Halloween and Christmas seasons. An end date for Haunted Mansion Holiday has not been announced, though it is expected to be sometime in January.

In order for Haunted Mansion Holiday to reopen as scheduled in August 2024, the attraction will need to close for refurbishment.

Though no time frame or length of closure have been confirmed beyond “January 2024,” sources report that it will likely be necessary to close the attraction for the entire time between holiday seasons. This would mean the regular Haunted Mansion would not return until early 2025.

Changes Coming to the Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion will receive a grounds expansion with an extended queue, a new elevator exit for accessibility, and a new retail shop.

The grounds of the Haunted Mansion will experience its own “spirited metamorphosis” at the Disneyland Resort in 2024. These additions to the grounds will build on the story and lore of the classic attraction, and will also include an expanded outdoor queue with enhanced theming.

The expanded queue will tie these stories into the overall lore of the mansion, as well as include other additions, like new gardens inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the one-eyed cat.

New Retail Shop

A new retail shop adjacent to the exit of The Haunted Mansion will also be added. It will be themed as a carriage house for the mansion, with the shop belonging to Madame Leota. More details will be shared about this new space at a later date.

  1. Seems like a lot to close an entire ride for a line expansion, shop and elevator. But hey who knows the scale of the work. Have a trip in March and would be sad to not ride
