Some large lights in EPCOT’s newly-opened World Celebration Gardens malfunctioned on their second day and were broken entirely by the third, and tonight, we noticed some more broken lights.
More Broken Lights in World Celebration Gardens
For the past five days since this section of the park opened for the first time, World Celebration Gardens has been plagued with broken lights. The above image was taken this evening, near the planter where PhotoPass has been stationed.
The lights are very obviously broken, as the design appears incomplete between two points. In this section, the lights do not form an image, but the other lights that have broken form a very large EPCOT logo (if they are all functioning, which has not happened since the first day this section of the park was open).
In the large Epcot logo, we initially saw that these lights were malfunctioning…
and later, off or broken entirely.
Tonight, these lights are back on, but not operating correctly. The rest of the EPCOT logo was yellow. As it cycled through other colors, these lights stayed blue.
Other sections of the lighting design are malfunctioning or broken. Here, there’s a vertical beam that’s stuck on white and a horizontal light that is out entirely.
There are other sections out entirely, as well. This is near the planter at the front of the park. You can see the same light out toward the top left of the image we already mentioned, but you can see more broken lights to the right.
On the right, along with more broken lights, there is this light is stuck on red. You can see it in the above images underneath the stroller.
At times, the light cycles, which are supposed to “dance” along with the light show on Spaceship Earth, did not change color. When a show was happening, this entire area stayed like this without changing with the show as they did earlier this week.

Although nice to look at, this whole area seems quite underwhelming. The lighting layout can’t be seen clearly from the ground. The lights themselves are only nice to see after dark. After facing walls for over 4 years, it just seems like a letdown. I’m sure in time it will be fine though.
