A huge inflatable Gwen Mallard, one of the main protagonists in the upcoming Illumination animated film “Migration,” now towers over guests from the lagoon at Universal Studios Florida. A “Migration” photo op has also been erected nearby.

Gwen Mallard has landed on a newly-constructed platform in the park’s lagoon area.

The inflatable is well over 20 feet tall. You can compare her height to the people walking on the walkway for scale.

Like her character in the new movie, the inflatable has brown wings, a tan face, a black beak, and brown spots on her chest and face. The spots on her face resemble freckles.

The duck is anchored to the platform to keep her from flying the nest in a stiff breeze.

Because of the platform recessed into the lagoon and the pose of Gwen Mallard, she almost appears to be floating in the water as you’re walking up to this area — until you see the newly constructed platform underneath.

The photo op is nearby, also next to the lagoon. Gwen and her family are depicted flying through purple-tinted clouds.

Guests can lie down on a padded support to look like they’re flying with the Mallards.

There’s a QR code on the ground that leads to an AR cloud effect to add more dimension to your photo.

‘Migration’

The newest film from Illumination, Migration follows a family of ducks as they take on the adventure of a lifetime. From Illumination:

This holiday season, Illumination, creators of the blockbuster “Minions,” “Despicable Me,” “Sing,” and “The Secret Life of Pets” comedies, invites you to take flight into the thrill of the unknown with a funny, feathered family vacation like no other in the action-packed new original comedy, “Migration.”

The Mallard family is in a bit of rut. While dad Mack is content to keep his family safe paddling around their New England pond forever, mom Pam is eager to shake things up and show their kids — teen son Dax and duckling daughter Gwen — the whole wide world. After a migrating duck family alights on their pond with thrilling tales of far-flung places, Pam persuades Mack to embark on a family trip, via New York City, to tropical Jamaica.

As the Mallards make their way South for the winter, their well-laid plans quickly go awry. The experience will inspire them to expand their horizons, open themselves up to new friends and accomplish more than they ever thought possible, while teaching them more about each other — and themselves — than they ever imagined. From a screenplay by Mike White, the Emmy winning creator of “The White Lotus” and the screenwriter of “School of Rock,” the film stars a top-flight comedic cast led by Oscar and Emmy nominee Kumail Nanjiani (“The Big Sick,” “Eternals”) as anxious Mallard dad Mack and Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games” and “Pitch Perfect” franchises) as Pam, the Mallards’ daring, quick-witted matriarch.

Migration releases in theaters domestically on December 22, 2023.
