Shrek’s house is continuing to take shape at Universal Studios Florida. Since our last update for the park’s upcoming DreamWorks land, concrete sculpting has begun on the swamp stump home.

Universal Orlando Resort announced in July that DreamWorks would take over the previous Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone, and concept art made it clear there would be a Trolls roller-coaster and a new Shrek meet and greet.

Concrete sculpting has begun on Shrek’s House, with the gray forms now covering up all of the previous framework and yellow tarp featured in our last update.

In the films, Shrek’s house is made out of a hollowed-out stump. Here, we can see the tree-like bark grain on the inside of the top spout on the roof.

Previously released concept art suggests that guests won’t be able to enter Shrek’s home. Instead, Shrek and Donkey will be greeting guests outside.

In this photo, you can see the linework and carvings made in the concrete to give this structure its ultimate swamp stump look.

Scaffolding still surrounds the entire structure.

Multiple levels allow for crew members and sculptors to work on the structure as it progresses through construction.

Once complete, the swamp will be located directly in front of E.T. Toy Closet.

Shrek, Donkey, and sometimes Princess Fiona previously met guests next to Shrek 4-D. That meet and greet closed to make way for Minion Land and the characters temporarily moved to KidZone, taking over the old Barney Shop. Shrek and other DreamWorks characters now appear in the Hollywood section of Universal Studios Florida.

The sign post poles to the right of the green, orange, and yellow coaster track have been painted with a blue base coat.

The blue color matches other blue poles we spotted in a previous update.

Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone closed permanently in January 2023, though E.T. Adventure and Animal Actors on Location! remain open. Take a look back at Fievel’s PlaylandCurious George Goes to Town, and the rest of the Kidzone.
