Ravensburger has slowly been revealing Disney Lorcana’s lore in short story trailers since its initial launch earlier this year, and have shared a new clip that shows the initial moments in which the magical ink flood began.
Initial Moments of Magical Ink Flood Revealed in Story Trailer
In a previous story trailers for The First Chapter, a female protagonist enters into the Great Illuminary, a magical library, through a portal from a world that appears much like our own.
She then finds herself part of a trio of human characters…
…picks up an Inkcaster…
and uses it to summon her first Glimmer: Hercules.
As Rise of the Floodborn arrived, so did story trailers teasing the new plot elements.
A story trailer followed the bardlike character as they played their lyre-like Inkcaster and accidentally opened a locked book in a forgotten area of the Illuminary, unleashing a dark magic from within.
Now, the newest trailer shows the flood of ink that resulted from this fated moment. The mix of magical ink rips through the Great Illuminary, sweeping up magical artifacts and changing Glimmers that it touches.
The flood sweeps into a Storyborn glimmer of Cinderella, and it swirls around her and engulfs her before melting away from a changed Glimmer.
Cinderella is no longer wearing her classic ballgown, but this new Floodborn version presents her in full knight armor.
One of the three protagonists, who was attempting to help Cinderella, is swept up in the flood along with several story items from Disney canon, including King Triton’s trident, Genie’s lamp, and more. He is carried along, unable to save himself. The wall of magical ink barrels through the halls and toward the bard character. With quick thinking, they duck into an archway and avoid getting swept up in the flood.
They see the trident coming toward them and they reach for the artifact, but then see the young man who was swept along in the inkswell and choose to rescue him instead of grabbing the trident, realizing they couldn’t get both.
They grab him out of the flood and pull him to safety.
The two stumble out onto a balcony of The Great Illuminary overlooking Lorcana, and quickly realize that the magical ink flood is not isolated to just the Illuminary. The ink surges over the land, manipulating everything it touches.
In the final sequence of the story trailer, the female character of the trio joins the other two on the balcony, and The Evil Queen, Raya, and the now-Floodborn Cinderella join them and look on with concerned expressions.
You can watch the trailer for yourself here. It was first shared on Ravensburger’s Disney Lorcana official Discord, but will likely be shared to other platforms at a later date.
