At this year’s Lunar New Year Festival in Disney California Adventure, guests will be able to meet Meilin and Ming from “Turning Red.”

“Turning Red” Meilin and Ming Meet & Greet

Meilin Lee (Mei) is the protagonist of the 2022 Pixar animated film, and Ming Lee is her mother. Both have the ability to transform into a giant Red Panda. Though not confirmed, at least Mei is likely to greet guests in her panda form as she already does at Shanghai Disney Resort, as pictured above. She will also appear as a panda in the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration parade for Pixar Fest later this year.

“Turning Red” returns to theaters on February 9.

Neither a location nor schedule for the meet and greet has been announced.

Lunar New Year celebrations at Disney California Adventure begin on January 23 and run through February 18. Other special meet and greet opportunities include Raya from “Raya and the Last Dragon,” Mulan and Mushu from “Mulan,” and Mickey & Minnie in special costumes.

This year celebrates the Year of the Dragon, and Mushu will take front and center for the merchandise and more. Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession and the Hurry Home World of Color tag will also return.

Specialty food booths will be around the park, and select venues will serve Lunar New Year inspired dishes and drinks. Menus have yet to be announced.
