Dolls in Wheelchairs Added to “it’s a small world” at Hong Kong Disneyland

Two dolls in wheelchairs have been added to “it’s a small world” at Hong Kong Disneyland. It is the fourth version of the Disney attraction to add dolls in wheelchairs as part of inclusion efforts, after Disneyland Park, Magic Kingdom, and Disneyland Paris.

Disney Magical Kingdom Blog shared photos of the two new dolls at Hong Kong Disneyland. One is in the Americas scene, next to two standing dolls.

The second doll is in a choir in the ride’s final scene. The dolls in wheelchairs replace two old dolls that wore similar outfits.

In the past few years, Disney has made more active efforts for the parks to be inclusive and diverse as part of the Reimagine Tomorrow initiative. They added the Inclusion key to Cast Member training and Cast Members began to address guests with gender-neutral terms like “friend.” Other projects range from adding mannequins in wheelchairs to hiring Black actors to portray Santa Claus to replacing Splash Mountain with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
