The Walt Disney Company Announces Reimagine Tomorrow Diversity Initiative

As part of its ongoing commitment to broader diversity, The Walt Disney Company has announced the “Reimagine Tomorrow” initiative.

The initiative highlights Disney’s current efforts to showcase stories and talent from underrepresented communities, as well as its intentions for the near future. As Disney states on the Reimagine Tomorrow website:

At Disney, inclusion is for everyone. Reimagine Tomorrow is our way of amplifying underrepresented voices and untold stories as well as championing the importance of accurate representation in media and entertainment. Because we are all greater than a single story and we all deserve to feel seen, heard, and understood.

Some of the bold actions being planned include having 50% of characters from scripted offerings across Disney General Entertainment come from underrepresented groups as well as adopting inclusion standards across all content. Beyond storytelling, Disney is also planning to have over half of its annual charitable giving directed towards programs serving underrepresented communities, as well as spending at least $1 billion with diverse suppliers by 2024.

Also highlighted as part of the initiative is the recent decision to expand the “Disney Look” that Cast Members must sport in the theme parks to offer more gender- and culuturally-inclusive hairstyles and the ability to show appropriate tattoos, as well as making “inclusion” the fifth key that is featured in all Cast Member training.

  1. Lowering standards for the Disney look is nothing to be proud of. They act like it’s an inclusion thing when they really just couldn’t find workers at their price point without compromising the Disney look.

  2. When Disney put out a video about the Passover Seder and purposely changed what is and has been the closing prayer of the Seder throughout Jewish history just to avoid saying the word – gasp – Jerusalem, I as a Jewish person definitely felt they were “championing the importance of accurate representation in media and entertainment”. What a load of nonesense. Disney is supposed to entertain us. They’re supposed to bring some magic and wonder into our lives. Now they just charge us through the teeth and virtue signal all over the place.

  3. I refuse to believe in this nonsense. I believe in Walt Disney”s legacy. Not how his company has become leftist. I will no longer watch new Disney movies I will watch Disney movies from the 90”s and early 2000”s wake up Disney and get back to observing Patriotism and observing America for what our founding Fathers founded not this Stupid America you think we have. Walt Disney would be ashamed of what his company has become.
