Gina Carano Suing Disney Over ‘Mandalorian’ Firing, Elon Musk Funding Lawsuit

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, Gina Carano filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm for her firing from “The Mandalorian” in 2021.

Carano was fired after she made several controversial social media posts, including comparing being Republican in the modern U.S.A. to being Jewish during the Holocaust and mocking masking to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Elon Musk is funding the lawsuit. Last November, Disney pulled advertisements from Musk’s X platform after it was found their ads were displayed next to antisemitic content and Musk endorsed an antisemitic conspiracy theory. Musk has since complained several times about the situation, telling Disney CEO Bob Iger to “go f*ck himself” and demanding Iger be fired.

As a sign of X Corp.’s commitment to free speech, we’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination.

The lawsuit was filed in California federal court and alleges wrongful termination and discrimination.

A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire, and that those who dared to question or failed to fully comply would not be tolerated. And so it was with Carano.

The rule of law still reigns over the Defendants’ empire …and Carano has returned to demand that they be held accountable for their bullying, discriminatory, and retaliatory actions—actions that inflicted not only substantial emotional harm, but millions of dollars in lost income.

The lawsuit seeks damages and demands Lucasfilm bring Carano back as Cara Dune.
