Progress is being made on the new CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza area in EPCOT, with updates added to the exterior of the World Celebration-area building.
CommuniCore Hall in EPCOT
On the side of the building that shares a walkway with Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana,” crew members were painting two walls with holes in them with what appears to be a black primer.
The holes on the walls are likely not going to be visible when the construction is complete, and are probably in preparation for installing more of the Spaceship Earth-inspired panels that have already been added on the other side of the building.
Speaking of those walls, more black rectangular panels have been added as framing for the building.
A small section has been entirely covered in the black paneling.
Continuing around the building, scaffolding is up and ready for work to begin, likely for the same prep and painting process as we saw in earlier photos.
Plastic sheeting has been placed on the bottom half of the building, suggesting work will be happening in this area in the coming days.
The Future of CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza
CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza, originally slated to open in 2023 as part of the World Celebration neighborhood of EPCOT, are now set to open later this year. CommuniCore Hall, named after the CommuniCore pavilion that opened with the park in 1982, will feature a permanent Mickey & Friends meet and greet location, a demo kitchen, gallery space, and a mixology bar. CommuniCore Plaza will include a stage area for performances.
