CONFIRMED: shopDisney Reverting Back to Disney Store Branding

shopDisney is officially dropping the brand name they first introduced in 2017 and reverting back to the Disney Store name.

We first reported this story on February 1 and shopDisney has since confirmed the change. On a shopDisney Guest Services webpage, they state, “Disney-owned shops, ecommerce, shop-in-shops, and outlets are coming under one brand name: Disney Store.”

This will be the official shopping destination where you can shop the stories you love from across our brands. Retail locations, including but not limited to World of Disney and others within Disney Parks will remain directly affiliated with the Park location where they reside.

Orders, accounts, and available products will not be affected by the change.

In regards to social media channel handles, shopDisney said, “Fans will be able to find inspiration and exciting updates from Disney Store on our dedicated social channels.”

The change is being made over the coming weeks, having already started in the Asia-Pacific region. It will officially begin in North America on February 14. As the shopDisney website is updated, it may be temporarily unavailable. DisneyStore.com already leads to shopDisney.com and will become the site’s main URL.

Disney Store will have a new logo and updated look across the website and social media platforms. We don’t know if the branding will be the same or similar to the previous Disney Store branding.

There will eventually be new Disney Store-branded packaging, but no existing packaging or products with shopDisney branding will be destroyed, in keeping with their commitment to sustainability and meeting Disney’s 2030 Environmental Goals.

This announcement comes on the heels of 150 shopDisney Cast Members learning they would be laid off in March.

Disney Store became shopDisney in September 2017 when retail stores were also renovated with a more modern design. Most Disney Store locations in North America closed in 2021, including the original store in Glendale. Around the same time, Target announced they would add their Disney Store “shop-in-shop” areas to 160 more U.S. locations following its original 2019 reveal. There are currently only 21 Disney Stores left in North America.
