The first trailer for “Twisters” made its debut during Super Bowl 58.
Though not exactly a sequel, “Twisters” exists in the same universe as the 1996 film, “Twister,” per the movie’s writer, Mark L. Smith. The Universal film will be released on July 19. The disaster movie stars Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos as a group of storm chasers.
Theme park fans will remember that the original film inspired the 1998 Universal Studios Florida attraction, Twister…Ride it Out, which simulated the experience of living through a tornado, and featured appearances by the film’s stars, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. The attraction closed in 2015.
