Testing only lasted a few minutes before the fountains shut off again. They weren’t doing anything particularly spectacular during this test, just running.
In March 2023, Universal Orlando Resort announced “Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration” had ended its run to make way for a new nighttime spectacular. That show was also performed in the lagoon, utilizing fireworks, water curtains with projections, projection mapping, and over 120 fountains. It premiered in 2018.
Universal Orlando Resort has not announced any details about the new nighttime spectacular since. There have been rumors it could use drones. In April 2023, construction was underway in the lagoon. After several months of quiet, we saw construction resume in September. It has continued since, with new projectors and fountains recently installed.
Universal has not announced when the nighttime spectacular will debut.
