The first trailer to the highly-anticipated musical film, “Wicked,” defied gravity, debuting during the 2024 Super Bowl.
Starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the Universal film, “Wicked” will hit theaters November 27, 2024, but is only part one of the story. Part two is currently set to be released in late 2025.
Based on the 2003 Broadway musical of the same name, which was based on the 1995 novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire, “Wicked” tells the story of what happens before “The Wizard of Oz.” Directed by John M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “In the Heights”), the film also stars Jonathan Bailey as Fiyaro, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
