An old Carousel of Progress reference has begun to appear on Walt Disney World buses.

The reference appears on the screens on the fronts and sides of the buses. These screens display the destination, like Magic Kingdom. The screens also sometimes switch to show a quote or phrase.

We’ve started spotting “Now is the best time of our lives!” on these bus screens. The quote may not be familiar to younger Disney fans, but it’s taken from “The Best Time of Your Life.” The Sherman Brothers wrote the song for the debut of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom in 1975.

The new theme song was commissioned by ride sponsor General Electric, who reportedly wanted guests to focus on the now instead of the future. It replaced “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” also by the Sherman Brothers. But the original song was restored during the 1990s update to Carousel of Progress.

As of July 2022, “The Best Time of Your Life” is also referenced in the narration of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority at Magic Kingdom.
